Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Saul Trejo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bas Rotten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trejo's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Red Flag by Billy Talent. Saul Trejo has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Leandro Rodrigues and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trejo moves to clinch but Rotten breaks away
and Rotten counters with a body kick that stops Trejo in his tracks momentarily.
Rotten fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Trejo has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Rotten throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Trejo misses with a kick to the body
and Rotten counters with an inside leg kick.

Rotten moves into the clinch successfully.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bas Rotten was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Rotten tries to sprawl but Trejo drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Trejo is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Rotten has managed to free his arm - good work.

Rotten is defending against the submission attempts here by Trejo.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rotten tries to kick Trejo off but Trejo keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Trejo is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rotten is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rotten has escaped and now he's on top!

Bas Rotten dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Trejo has his takedown stuffed
and Rotten counters with a three punch combo that has Trejo backing up. Trejo nods at Rotten to acknowledge the strikes.

and Rotten counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Trejo moves to clinch but Rotten breaks away
and Rotten counters with a nice uppercut.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Rotten lands a really nice looking cross but Trejo seems unphased.

and Rotten connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Trejo jumps guard but Rotten stands there with Trejo around his waist. Trejo gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Saul Trejo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rotten breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Trejo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rotten can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Rotten is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Rotten wants to stand but Trejo is controlling his posture from full guard.

Trejo has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Rotten.

Trejo tries to keep at a distance but Rotten has taken the fight into the clinch.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Rotten. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
A nice right hand lands inside from Rotten.
Trejo is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Rotten is defending well for now.

Well Rotten has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
