Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Doug Couture! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jonathan Davis Jones! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Jones creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Couture's defenses.
It looks like Doug Couture has been cut. Jones with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Couture takes an elbow to the forehead. A nice glancing elbow lands by Jones.
Doug Couture's cut is getting worse. Jones pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Couture throws a left and a right that both miss
and Jones counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Jones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Couture closes the distance and clinches up with Jones, looking for a takedown. Couture pushes Jones against the cage but Jones circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Couture misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. No luck with that takedown attempt from Couture. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Doug Couture. That's going to take a lot out of him. Couture tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Jones counters with a one-two to the body. Couture shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Couture has a takedown stuffed. Jones lands a slapping body shot.
Jones leaves Couture with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Couture is breathing heavily. Jones moves into the clinch successfully.

Jones is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Couture gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Jones lands a nice elbow.
Doug Couture's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Jones has clasped his hands together around Couture's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Jones stands up and beckons Couture to his feet. Jones scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Couture takes a kick to the side of the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Couture tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jones swivels and escapes. Jones shoots in for a takedown but Couture shows good takedown defense. Jones throws a series of strikes that have Couture backpedaling.
Jeez, Doug Couture's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. Couture could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Jones throws a nice head kick!
Jones with a nice cross. Doug Couture seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Jones takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Doug Couture's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Jonathan Davis Jones!
