The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Garcia throws a series of punches but Pain avoids them all with ease. Pain manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Garcia on his heels. He'll look to pass Garcia's guard now, I'm sure. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Garcia wants to get back to his feet but Pain is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Pain looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Garcia is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pain is controlling him. Pain looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Pain postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Pain tries to clinch up but Garcia circles away and keeps his distance. Pain fails with the takedown. Garcia throws a right and a left that both miss. Pain gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A head kick misses from Garcia. Garcia misses with a series of wild punches.

That's three minutes gone in the round. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pain connects with a nice short shot to Garcia's temple. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Garcia is looking to escape. Pain is pressing down on Garcia's thigh, looking to free his foot. Garcia is holding on for now. Garcia kicks Pain off and gets back to his feet. A bone on bone clash there as Pain blocks the leg kick.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Pain fails with the takedown. Fernando Garcia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Pain. Garcia digs a good hook to Pain's body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pain has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Garcia. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Pain dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Pain feints and as Garcia raises his hands in defense, Pain changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Garcia is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Pain goes for a takedown in the clinch but Garcia prevents it.
Pain's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Garcia's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Garcia scores with a three punch combo!

Fernando Garcia is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Garcia tries to bum rush Pain with a series of wild strikes but Pain uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Garcia goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Fernando Garcia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sloppy strikes from Garcia. Those never looked like landing. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Garcia misses with an uppercut. Pain saw that one coming. Pain moves out of range of the body kick from Garcia.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Garcia keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Pain fails with an attempt to clinch.
Pain shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Pain was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Garcia is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Pain postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Garcia looks a forlorn figure.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Pain has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Garcia's face.
Fernando Garcia has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Mark Pain is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. A nice elbow there by Pain.
