Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Feder Emeleanenkis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Smith!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emeleanenkis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Smith connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Emeleanenkis's hands.

and Emeleanenkis counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Smith lands with a good body shot.
Smith fails in his attempt to clinch.
Smith throws a head kick but Emeleanenkis moves out of range.
Emeleanenkis uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Smith.
John Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Emeleanenkis counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Smith is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Emeleanenkis defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Smith is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Emeleanenkis to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Emeleanenkis shrugs it off.
