Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Saul Trejo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Armen Garibian! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Mauricio Rocha and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Trejo keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Trejo takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Trejo clinches up with Garibian and pushes him back against the cage. Trejo lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
It looks like Armen Garibian has been cut. Trejo connects with a nasty looking knee right to Garibian's face.
Trejo jumps guard and drags Garibian to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Trejo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Garibian is aware though and is defending well. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Trejo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Garibian's guard. Garibian can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Trejo controls the pace. Trejo trying to control but Garibian is working from the bottom. Trejo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Trejo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Trejo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Trejo stands up from Garibian's guard - Trejo perhaps looking for a knockout. Trejo drives through with a takedown into guard. Trejo postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Garibian controls Trejo momentarily but Trejo frees himself. Trejo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Garibian wants to sweep here but Trejo controlling him for the moment. Trejo drops back looking for a leg! Garibian is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Garibian manages to kick Trejo off! Trejo jumps back into Garibian's guard. Trejo passes Garibian's left leg - he's now in half guard. Garibian looks gassed! Trejo is trying for a kimura here. Garibian looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Trejo wins by kimura!
