Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ronnie DeMarino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ramon Samara!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Hugh Johnson and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

DeMarino drives through with a takedown into guard.
DeMarino looking to sit in guard and control but Samara gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Samara controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
DeMarino is trying to control the position but Samara postures up.
Samara with a flurry of punches that miss.
Samara is pushing down on DeMarino's leg trying to pass to half guard. DeMarino is fighting to maintain full guard but Samara has managed to sneak the leg through.

DeMarino looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
DeMarino is not content to let Samara control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

DeMarino actively working from the bottom here.

DeMarino is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Samara pulls his head out easily.

Samara seems to be working for a kimura but DeMarino defends the submission attempt.

Samara wants to control but DeMarino is keeping him busy.

Samara is trying to work for a kimura but DeMarino is defending well.
DeMarino looks like he's trying to stand up.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Samara connects with a nice short shot to DeMarino's temple.
DeMarino tries to roll over but Samara keeps him under control.
DeMarino on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if DeMarino tries to get out of the position.
Samara is trying to control. DeMarino wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Samara works his foot free and advances to mount.
DeMarino bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
DeMarino won't allow Samara to sweep him here.
Samara will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Samara is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Samara working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. DeMarino doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. DeMarino manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Samara is trying to control the position but DeMarino postures up.
DeMarino throws a big right hand that misses.
Samara looking to hit a scissor sweep but DeMarino is one step ahead there.
DeMarino wants to control from the top but Samara keeps moving.

DeMarino in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Samara has his foot on DeMarino's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. DeMarino works his way back into a safe position though.
DeMarino trying to control the position from guard on top but Samara is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Samara tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Samara keeping moving, preventing DeMarino from controlling successfully.
DeMarino with a flurry of punches that miss.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
DeMarino trying to control but Samara is working from the bottom.

Samara is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Samara controls DeMarino momentarily but DeMarino frees himself.
DeMarino trying to move into half guard but instead Samara has managed to sweep!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
DeMarino is trying to keep Samara in close.
DeMarino has Samara pulled in close to control his posture.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ramon Samara will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Samara lands a right hook to the body.

Samara bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Samara trying to control the position but DeMarino is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
DeMarino struggling a bit here.
Samara creates some space and throws a big elbow, but DeMarino sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
DeMarino tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Samara presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Samara trying to control but he's not successful this time.
DeMarino is trying to escape the mount.
Samara lands with some strikes.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Samara looking to control but DeMarino is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
DeMarino is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Samara looking to finish DeMarino with some ground and pound. This is bad for DeMarino!
DeMarino is wriggling around trying to escape.
Ramon Samara has got the better of the ground game so far.
Samara trying to control but DeMarino is having none of it.

Samara is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. DeMarino is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. DeMarino flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Samara anticipates the leg and manages to get behind DeMarino and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Samara slips an arm under DeMarino chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Samara has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Samara is squeezing on DeMarino like an anaconda would it's prey. DeMarino fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ramon Samara!
