Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Graham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Calzaghe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jordan Graham! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Calzaghe! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Graham moves to clinch but Calzaghe breaks away and Calzaghe counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Graham throws a sloppy head kick enabling Calzaghe to counter with a crisp jab. Graham tries to clinch up and Calzaghe counters with a single leg into guard. Graham didn't expect that. Calzaghe is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Graham wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Calzaghe manages to pass to side control. Calzaghe is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's one minute gone in the round. Graham wants to improve his position but Calzaghe is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Graham is defending against the submission attempts here by Calzaghe.

Graham really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Calzaghe seems to be looking for submissions.

Graham is trying to stand back up but Calzaghe is controlling him
Graham has one foot on Calzaghe's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Graham wants to clinch and Calzaghe counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Calzaghe. Calzaghe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Calzaghe dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Graham falls off balance throwing a combination
and Calzaghe decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Graham's guard. Calzaghe sitting in guard, not really doing much. Calzaghe has gone for a leg lock! Graham slips out almost immediately though and dives into Calzaghe's guard. Graham stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Calzaghe swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Calzaghe manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Graham tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Calzaghe counters with a nice low kick that buckles Graham's knee momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Graham wants to clinch but Calzaghe slips to the side and Calzaghe counters with a three punch combo that has Graham backing up. Graham nods at Calzaghe to acknowledge the strikes. Graham doesn't succeed with the takedown and Calzaghe counters with a shoot takedown. Graham fights it but they end up in guard. Calzaghe gets to his feet - Graham follows without any prompting. Calzaghe circles away from the clinch attempt and Calzaghe counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Calzaghe. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Calzaghe content to stall in guard here. Calzaghe with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Calzaghe seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Calzaghe's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Calzaghe drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Calzaghe jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Calzaghe controlling from the top position. Graham is trying to keep Calzaghe in close.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Calzaghe trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Graham wants to get back to his feet but Calzaghe is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Calzaghe fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Graham sprawls well initially but Calzaghe persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Calzaghe looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Graham won't allow Calzaghe to pass to mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Calzaghe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Calzaghe throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Graham was covering up waiting for the punch and Calzaghe finishes the takedown easily into guard. Joe Calzaghe has got the better of the ground game so far. Calzaghe stopping the sweep attempt from Graham. Calzaghe wants to control from the top but Graham keeps moving. Graham wants to sweep but no luck. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Graham is looking to stand up but Calzaghe isn't so interested in that idea. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Calzaghe pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Graham is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Calzaghe prevents Graham from getting back to his feet. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Calzaghe trying to control but Graham is working from the bottom.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Joe Calzaghe hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Graham throws a leg kick and Calzaghe counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Graham keeping moving, preventing Calzaghe from controlling successfully. Calzaghe controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Calzaghe pushing down on Graham's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Joe Calzaghe is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Calzaghe takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Joe Calzaghe was stalling too much, according to the referee. Calzaghe closes the distance and pushes Graham back into the cage. Both fighters working to control the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Calzaghe has Graham pressed against the cage, preventing Graham from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Calzaghe has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Graham regains guard immediately. Calzaghe not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Jordan Graham has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Calzaghe stands and throws Graham's legs to the side, diving into side control. Calzaghe is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Graham will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
And that's the end of the fight! Joe Calzaghe comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Calzaghe has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
