The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ratz doesn't succeed with the takedown and Young counters with a takedown into side control. Young postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Young lands a few punches from side control. Young connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Ratz some visible discomfort.
Ratz dodges the ground and pound from Young. Ratz is working to avoid the ground and pound but Young connects with a decent elbow. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Young misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Ratz keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ratz can do anything to dispel that myth. Young with the ground and pound but Ratz uses the opportunity to regain guard. Young trying to control but Ratz is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Young chips away with some ground and pound. Ratz is breathing heavily. Young works over Ratz with some ground and pound from guard. Ratz has momentary wrist control but Young slips an elbow through the middle. Young wants to control from the top but Ratz keeps moving. Young is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Young slips nicely into half guard. Young is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ratz can do to turn this around? Young looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ratz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Young postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Ratz looks a forlorn figure.
Ratz is still in real trouble! Can Young finish him? Young cracks Ratz with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Young has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Young lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Ratz seems to have recovered his senses. Young is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Ratz can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ratz takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Young's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
