Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kirk Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodney Mack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Murphy misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Murphy throws a jab when Mack was well out of range. Mack tries to score with a low kick but Murphy moves his leg out of the way. Murphy swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Mack thumps Murphy with a low kick. Kirk Murphy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mack misses with a hook. Murphy ducked under it nicely. Mack lands a lovely overhand right.
It looks like Kirk Murphy has been cut. Mack gets in close and instigates a clinch. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Mack. Mack lands with a right to the head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Murphy lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. A head punch on the inside from Murphy fails to land. Mack scores with an uppercut up the middle. Mack lands with a light punch inside. Murphy has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Mack is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Murphy is breathing heavily. Murphy avoids the body shot from Mack.
Mack misses with a hook. Murphy ducked under it nicely. Mack lands a jab. Mack throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Mack uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Murphy. Mack tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Murphy misses with a body shot
and Mack counters with a straight right hand.

Murphy ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Murphy defending well as Mack loads up on a big left hand. The fight moves into the clinch position. Murphy changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mack fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kirk Murphy. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mack swinging wildly here.
Mack is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Mack throws a leg kick that is checked and Murphy counters with a nice double leg into guard. Murphy throws and elbow that misses. Mack uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Murphy's guard. Nice move by Mack! Mack preventing the sweep. Mack must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Murphy looking for subs off his back but Mack has passed one foot through into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Mack with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Murphy tries to roll over but Mack keeps him under control. Murphy looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Murphy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Murphy is not content to let Mack control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Mack prevents Murphy from improving his position. Mack is keen to just control but Murphy is a slippery customer. Murphy wants to get back to full guard. Murphy has hold of Mack's hands but Mack slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mack prevents Murphy from improving his position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A combination from Mack does no damage. Mack goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Murphy waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Mack. Mack shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Mack fails in his attempt to clinch. Mack misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Murphy.
A clash of legs there as Murphy blocks the low kick. Murphy lands with a straight right. Mack didn't see that one coming. Murphy misses with a wild body shot. Mack wants to clinch. Murphy on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Murphy lands a jab to the head.
Nice defenses there by Mack. Murphy moves forwards but Mack connects with a nice, crisp jab. Rodney Mack seems to be getting the better of the standup. Murphy throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Mack's head.
It looks like Rodney Mack has been cut. Mack has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mack connects with a solid leg kick. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Murphy takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mack buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Murphy sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Mack lands a big head kick that sends Murphy tumbling to the mat! Mack takes a step backwards and waves Murphy back to his feet - he wants the finish! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mack scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Mack comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Mack keeps Murphy at a distance using the push kick. Murphy gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Murphy tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Mack is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Murphy buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Murphy!! Murphy is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Mack throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rodney Mack!
