Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mayhem Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Pompies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pompies throws a sloppy head kick

and Jackson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pompies won't be happy with that.
Pompies can't do much from the bottom here.
Pompies is trying to get back to half guard.
Jackson wants to stand but Pompies has his arm trapped.
Pompies tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jackson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Jackson decides to stand back up.

Jackson drives through with a takedown into Pompies's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Pompies pulls Jackson in to control the position.
Jackson looking to pass the guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pompies pulls Jackson in close to his closed guard and prevents Jackson from doing any damage or advancing position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Jackson stops Pompies from standing up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jackson is looking to advance position but Pompies has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Pompies stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Jackson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pompies was covering up waiting for the punch and Jackson finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Jackson won't allow Pompies to sweep him here.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pompies is on top in guard.
Pompies trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pompies wanted to stand there but Jackson had control of the position.

Jackson is working an open guard so Pompies takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Pompies throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Jackson counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pompies manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Pompies thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Pompies is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Jackson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Jackson shrugs it off.

Poor strikes thrown by Pompies there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Pompies gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Pompies darts in trying to clinch

and Jackson counters with a takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Pompies throws Jackson to one side and escapes!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jackson takes the fight into the clinch.

Pompies manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mayhem Jackson dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Jackson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pompies throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Jackson counters with a one-two to the body.
Pompies feints a jab promting Jackson to slip. Pompies then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Jackson slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Pompies misses with a takedown
and Jackson counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Pompies is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Jackson looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Pompies!
Pompies wants to control but Jackson is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pompies can't escape the position.
Pompies sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Pompies is looking to control Jackson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pompies avoid being mounted?

Jackson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pompies works his way to full guard. Good work.
Jackson pushes down on Pompies's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Jackson is looking for a kimura here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Pompies manages to get to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pompies is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Pompies is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pompies is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Pompies lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jackson!
Jackson blocking the ground and pound.

Pompies is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Jackson is forced to tap! Great finish!
