Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tom Bader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jo Resta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jo Resta is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tom Bader! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jo Resta! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Resta fails with the takedown and Bader counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Resta wants to improve his position but Bader is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bader is thwarting Resta's attempts to control the position. Bader seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Bader trying to control the action but Resta is working from the bottom. Bader perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Tom Bader wasn't doing enough on the ground. Resta darts in trying to clinch and Bader counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bader. Bader slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Bader wants to control from the top but Resta keeps moving. Resta tries to strike from the bottom.
Bader will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Resta lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bader! Resta misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bader is in all sorts of trouble here.
Resta working Bader over with strikes here. Bader bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Resta has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bader can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Resta trying to keep a closed guard but Bader is proving a slippery customer.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Bader cracks Resta with a solid left hand. Bader is pushing down on Resta's leg trying to pass to half guard. Resta is fighting to maintain full guard but Bader has managed to sneak the leg through. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bader in particular looking to stall. Bader seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Resta for as long as he can get away with. Resta is trying to maintain the position but Bader is very close to passing his half guard. Resta looks gassed! Bader lands with a punch from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bader seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Resta does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Bader performing his best blanket impression for a moment. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Bader moves into full mount! Resta won't be happy about that! Resta tries to lock up and control but Bader gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Bader controlling from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tom Bader dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Resta with a poor takedown and Bader decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Resta's guard. Resta wants to sweep here but Bader controlling him for the moment. Bader's corner is telling him to maintain position. Bader landing some decent shots from guard. Tom Bader overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Resta controls Bader momentarily but Bader frees himself. Bader is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Bader slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Resta can't keep his opponent in guard - Bader advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Resta can do anything to dispel that myth. Resta is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bader working the head and body with strikes. Resta has hold of Bader's hands but Bader slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Resta trying to control from the bottom.
Well, if Bader is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Bader is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Bader takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bader is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Resta to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Resta shrugs it off. Bader dominating with strikes here. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bader controlling the pace for now. Bader's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Resta is rocked!
It looks like Jo Resta has been cut. Bader swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
