PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dong Ming Pak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robin Padilla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dong Ming Pak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robin Padilla!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Jorge Garcia and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pak swats away the attempt to clinch by Padilla.
Pak ducks under a wild hook from Padilla.
Padilla tries to clinch up.
Padilla tries to clinch up.
Padilla moves in looking to clinch but Pak pushes him off.
Padilla tries to clinch up but Pak circles away and keeps his distance.
Padilla bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Pak's head.

and Pak counters with a single leg into guard. Padilla didn't expect that.

Padilla wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Pak seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Padilla really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pak. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Padilla tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Pak misses with a takedown attempt
and Padilla counters with a straight right hand.

and Pak counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Padilla's guard now.

Pak trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Padilla keeping moving, preventing Pak from controlling successfully.
Padilla is trying to control the position but Pak postures up.
Pak passes Padilla's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Pak is looking to advance position but Padilla won't allow it.

Pak is looking for a kimura here.
Padilla wants to control but Pak is keeping busy.

Pak is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Padilla is refusing to be controlled, as Pak sits in half guard.
Pak looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Pak looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Padilla preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Pak works his way into full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Padilla tries to control Pak's body but Pak pushes him off. Padilla squirms to his side and now Pak has his back!

Pak working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

Padilla can't escape the position.

Padilla is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Pak gets his way!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pak controlling from the back.
You can see the frustration on Padilla's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dong Ming Pak dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Padilla lands a jab to the nose.
Padilla scores with a crisp jab that stopped Pak in his tracks.
Padilla doesn't manage to clinch there - Pak circles away.
Padilla is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Pak avoids the body shot from Padilla.
Padilla throws a good cross that connects.
Robin Padilla seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice straight punches there by Padilla. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Padilla.
Pak takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Padilla lands with an uppercut that bounces Pak off the cage and back into rage.

Padilla doesn't manage to clinch there - Pak circles away.
Padilla misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pak.
Pak with a poor takedown
and Padilla counters with a three punch combo that has Pak backing up. Pak nods at Padilla to acknowledge the strikes.
Padilla attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Padilla tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pak swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Padilla throws a nice looking combination but Pak bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Pak slips under a jab from Padilla.
A punch lands to the side of Pak 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Pak has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Pak there as he acknowledges the shot.
Padilla tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pak swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Padilla wants to clinch.

enabling Padilla to counter with a crisp jab.
Padilla tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pak paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Padilla moves in looking to clinch but Pak pushes him off.

and Padilla counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dong Ming Pak. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Padilla tries to clinch up but Pak circles away and keeps his distance.

and Pak counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Pak.
Pak is pushing down on Padilla's leg trying to pass to half guard. Padilla is fighting to maintain full guard but Pak has managed to sneak the leg through.
Padilla wants to get back to full guard.
Padilla is trying to maintain the position but Pak is very close to passing his half guard.

Pak seems to be looking for submissions.
Pak is figuring out what he wants to do next.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Padilla can do anything to dispel that myth.
Padilla is looking to control Pak's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Padilla avoid being mounted?

Pak is trying for a kimura here. Padilla looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Pak wins by kimura!
