PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Timothy Mcgee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mcgee comes into the arena with McGee blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Timothy Mcgee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Peter Gracie!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Mcgee is able to avoid easily.
Mcgee wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Mcgee changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gracie looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Mcgee working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mcgee trying to control the action but Gracie is working from the bottom.

Mcgee tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mcgee has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Mcgee is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gracie has escaped the position, nice work there.

Gracie manages to work his way to half guard, despite Mcgee's best efforts.
Gracie is pressing down on Mcgee's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Gracie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mcgee defends it easily.

Mcgee postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gracie is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mcgee, into his guard.

Gracie drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mcgee looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mcgee looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mcgee!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Gracie sneaks back into half guard.
Mcgee tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gracie knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Gracie manages to get to full guard.
Mcgee works over Gracie with some ground and pound from guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gracie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mcgee is stalling in the full guard.

Mcgee drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mcgee jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Mcgee got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gracie has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mcgee has managed to get both his arms back between Gracie's legs - danger averted.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
