The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ames with a poor takedown

and Thome counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Thome in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Thome is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Thome scoring with some ground and pound.
Thome trying to control but Ames is working from the bottom.
Thome is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ames is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Thome drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Thome jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ames is on top in guard.

Thome has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Ames should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Thome has tightened it up now! Ames should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
