Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Dai! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joe Red! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Mauricio Rocha and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Red misses with a low kick.
Dai shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Red is trying to defend but Dai finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Red gets full guard. Red can't keep his opponent in guard - Dai advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Red wants to control but Dai is keeping busy and won't allow it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Red manages to escape and get back to his feet! Dai fails with the takedown and Red counters by moving into the clinch. Dai tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Red smiles and moves away.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Red enables Dai to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Red manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Red is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dai is aware though and is defending well. Dai drops back looking for a leg! Red is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Red manages to kick Dai off! Dai jumps back into Red's guard. Dai seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dai is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Dai avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Red working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dai doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dai manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Dai stands and throws Red's legs to the side, diving into side control. Red tries to buck Dai off but Dai is having none of it. Red is not content to let Dai control the position. Dai is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Red has escaped the position, nice work there.

Red knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Dai has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Red is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Dai yanks on the arm and Red is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Dai.
