Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carollo Pavlacci (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kurt Jackson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carollo Pavlacci!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kurt Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson throws a series of strikes that have Pavlacci backpedaling.
Jackson throws a low kick but Pavlacci moves out of range easily.

Pavlacci clinches.
Jackson can't break the clinch.
Pavlacci misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Jackson.
Jackson is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
A left hand lands to the body for Pavlacci.
Jackson is pressed up against the cage. Pavlacci has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jackson down to the mat. Jackson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Jackson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jackson will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Pavlacci.

Pavlacci has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Kurt Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Jackson throws a leg kick but Pavlacci moved away.
Jackson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Jackson lets loose with a powerful body kick. Pavlacci will feel that in the morning.

Pavlacci closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jackson to the mat! Jackson manages to get full guard.

Pavlacci drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pavlacci jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Jackson wants to stand but Pavlacci is controlling the position.
Pavlacci slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Pavlacci wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.

We're going to have a standup here because Carollo Pavlacci wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Jackson is looking to clinch.
Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pavlacci paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Jackson, right into the meat.
Pavlacci keeps the fight on the outside.
Jackson buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
A slapping leg kick lands for Jackson.
Jackson is looking to clinch.
A combination from Jackson does no damage.
Pavlacci could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Jackson turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Jackson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Pavlacci eats them both and turns towards Jackson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Pavlacci misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Pavlacci is breathing heavily.
Pavlacci tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Jackson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Pavlacci stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Jackson.
Jackson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Jackson throws a series of strikes that have Pavlacci backpedaling.
Jackson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jackson buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Some wild striking there from Jackson.
The fighters circle momentarily. Jackson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jackson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Jackson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jackson digs a good body shot into Pavlacci's ribs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kurt Jackson dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Pavlacci takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Jackson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pavlacci.
Jackson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Pavlacci counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jackson!
Jackson tries to hold on but Pavlacci pushes him away.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackson is squirming around, avoiding Pavlacci's attempts to control the action.
Pavlacci takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pavlacci landing strikes, looking to finish!
Pavlacci looking to control but Jackson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Jackson wants to hold on but Pavlacci pushes him away.

Pavlacci tries to control but Jackson wriggling away.
Pavlacci is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jackson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Pavlacci swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Jackson is now in Pavlacci's guard. A big mistake from Pavlacci there, giving up the dominant position!

Pavlacci is looking for a triangle but Jackson pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jackson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jackson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Jackson throws a big right hand that misses.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Pavlacci holds on and takes a little breather.
Pavlacci is trying to control the position but Jackson postures up.
Jackson with a flurry of punches that miss.
Jackson won't allow Pavlacci to get back to his feet.
Jackson works over Pavlacci with some ground and pound from guard.

Pavlacci has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Jackson lands with an uppercut that bounces Pavlacci off the cage and back into rage.

Jackson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Jackson throws a right and a left that both miss.

Jackson shoots in and bounces Pavlacci off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Pavlacci trying to keep a closed guard but Jackson is proving a slippery customer.

Jackson trying to control the position from guard on top but Pavlacci is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pavlacci had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jackson defends it easily.
Jackson throws a big right hand that misses.

Pavlacci is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Jackson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Pavlacci has momentary wrist control but Jackson slips an elbow through the middle.
Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pavlacci swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jackson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pavlacci. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jackson scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Jackson pushes down on Pavlacci's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Pavlacci is not content to let Jackson control the position.

Pavlacci is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Jackson scores with a couple of nice shots.
Pavlacci wants to improve his position but Jackson is controlling well.
Pavlacci is trying to control but can't.

Pavlacci is trying to maintain the position but Jackson is very close to passing his half guard.

Pavlacci is looking to control Jackson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pavlacci avoid being mounted?
Jackson thows a huge punch but Pavlacci dodges it nicely.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jackson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pavlacci's head.
Jackson is looking to take a break and control but Pavlacci is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Pavlacci wants to improve his position but Jackson is controlling well.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Jackson lands a nice short elbow.
Jackson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Jackson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Pavlacci has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jackson is working away from the top position though.

Kurt Jackson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jackson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
