Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Drago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones has chosen Mushroomhead as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ivan Drago!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Jones!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Jorge Garcia and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones ducks under a wild hook from Drago.
Jones throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Drago sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Drago lands a jab to the head.
A swing and a miss from Drago.

Jones shoots in and bounces Drago off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Jones is looking to work some ground and pound but Drago has wrist control.
Jones postures up in Drago's guard and throws a big left but Drago blocks it.
Jones makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Jones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Drago works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Drago is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Drago keeping full guard, as Jones tries to pass.
Drago is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him.

Drago tries to improve position but can't.

Jones looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Drago managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Jones.
Drago takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Drago is trying to get back to his feet.
Jones looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Drago is avoiding damage well.

Drago tries to escape but Jones is in control.
Check out the look on Jones's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Drago parries the strikes from Jones easily there. Jones is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Drago to escape.
Drago regains half guard, as Jones was trying to land strikes.
Drago is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jones thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jones will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Jones connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
An inside leg kick lands from Drago.
Jones ducks right into an uppercut from Drago.
Drago lands with a kick to the temple. Jones shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


Jones is rocked!

Drago steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jones.
Jones is still on wobbly legs! Can Drago finish him?

Jones seems to have recovered his senses.
Drago tries to bum rush Jones with a series of wild strikes but Jones uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Drago misses with a hook. Jones ducked under it nicely.
Drago throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Drago is breathing heavily.
Jones throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jones connects with a good right hand that stumbles Drago. Drago circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Jones shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Drago's guard.
Jones lands a couple of digs.
Jones passes Drago's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Jones seems to be working for a kimura but Drago defends the submission attempt.

Drago suckers Jones into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Drago is now in Jones's guard!

Jones has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Drago controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Jones counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Drago!
Drago bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.
Drago wants to get up but he can't break Jones's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Jones looks up at the clock and then as Drago takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jones smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

I've got Jones winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
