PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tarla Porra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tarla Porra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Davis!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Jorge Garcia and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis shoots for a takedown but Porra saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Good standup being displayed there by Davis as he connects with a hook.
Porra checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Porra throws a left and a right that both miss

and Davis counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Porra wants to get back to his feet but Davis is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Davis postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Davis trying to control the position from guard on top but Porra is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Davis thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Davis passes Porra's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Davis controlling the action here.

Davis seems to be working for a kimura but Porra defends the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Porra is refusing to be controlled, as Davis sits in half guard.
Davis thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Porra's head.
Davis wants to control but Porra is keeping him busy.
Davis winds up and cracks Porra with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davis prevents Porra from standing back up.
Porra blocking the ground and pound attempt from Davis.
Davis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Davis wants to control but Porra is keeping him busy.

Davis has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Porra defend it? Davis steps over the head and cranks it - Porra is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Davis!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Marcus Davis!
