Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ben Askern (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duse Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ben Askern looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ben Askern! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Duse Smith! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith with a poor takedown and Askern counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Smith seems keen to control Askern's posture. Askern trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom. Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Askern working some strikes from top position. Smith wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Askern drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Smith manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Askern has Smith in his guard. Askern is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith throws a big right hand that misses. Askern lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Smith! Askern controlling his opponent. Smith really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Askern jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Smith is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Smith and Askern has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Smith tries to improve position but can't. Smith struggling a bit here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Smith can't do much from the bottom here. Askern content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Smith tries to buck Askern off but Askern is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Askern looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Smith holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smith manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Smith is looking to improve his position.
Askern sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Smith defending well though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ben Askern dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Smith moves to clinch but Askern breaks away and Askern counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Smith tries for a takedown. No joy.

Askern changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smith looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Askern is looking to take a break and control but Smith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Smith is trying to buck Askern off. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Askern wants to take a breather but Smith manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Askern. Smith is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Askern is controlling him. Askern trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Askern passes into half guard. Smith is refusing to be controlled, as Askern sits in half guard. Askern thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Smith to regain full guard. Askern prevents Smith from getting back to his feet. Smith is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Askern trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Askern prevents Smith from getting back to his feet. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smith is on top in guard.
Askern has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Smith should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Askern has tightened it up now! Smith should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
