PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Travis Antosh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mister Deeds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Deeds has chosen Palmdale by Afroman as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Travis Antosh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mister Deeds!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch lands to the side of Antosh 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Antosh fails with the takedown
and Deeds counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Antosh is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Deeds throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Antosh keeps the fight on the outside.
Antosh gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Deeds counters with a good low kick that Antosh was not able to check.
Antosh ducks right into an uppercut from Deeds.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A nice combination there by Deeds.

Antosh stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Deeds.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Antosh. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

The fight stays on the outside here - Deeds looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Deeds works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Antosh content to control rather than advance.
Antosh is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Antosh connects with a nice short shot to Deeds's temple.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Antosh is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Antosh winds up and cracks Deeds with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Antosh is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Antosh has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Antosh is figuring out what he wants to do next.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Travis Antosh just wasn't active enough.
Antosh shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Antosh takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Deeds tests Antosh's chin there with a solid looking shot.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Deeds cracks Antosh with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

and Deeds counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mister Deeds dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Deeds clobbers Antosh with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Deeds trying to control the position from guard on top but Antosh is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Antosh is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Deeds is aware though and is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Antosh lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Deeds!

Mister Deeds showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!

Antosh looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Deeds feints and then cracks Antosh's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Antosh down.

and Deeds counters with a head kick. That will keep Antosh thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Antosh walks into a stiff left hand from Deeds.
Deeds wants to clinch up but Antosh keeps it at a distance.

Deeds lands with a kick to the temple. Antosh shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Deeds cracks Antosh with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Antosh shoots and misses
and Deeds connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Travis Antosh. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Deeds lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Deeds has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Deeds shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Antosh is on top in guard.

Antosh seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Deeds for as long as he can get away with.

Deeds wants to stand and escape but Antosh is having none of it.
Deeds takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Antosh tries to free his leg and advance position but Deeds is retaining full guard.
Deeds is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Mister Deeds comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Deeds winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
