The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griggs defending well as Fangyu loads up on a big left hand.
Griggs throws a combination that misses
and Fangyu counters with a thumping low kick.
Fangyu scores with a push kick.
Fangyu takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Griggs misses with a shot to the body
and Fangyu makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Griggs really felt that one!

Fangyu is trying to trip Griggs. He has hold of a leg but Griggs is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Fangyu persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Fangyu really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Fangyu seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Fangyu has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Zhu Fangyu has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Griggs is looking to stand back up but Fangyu counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Griggs.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Fangyu seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Griggs for as long as he can get away with.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

letting Fangyu counter with a right hand.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Fangyu here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fangyu connects with a high kick.
Fangyu lands a nice looking kick to the body. Griggs takes a step back to recover.

Griggs on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Griggs sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Griggs is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.

Griggs has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Fangyu.

Perry Griggs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Fangyu's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We're going to have a standup here because Zhu Fangyu wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

and Fangyu counters with a lovely shot to the body.

and Fangyu decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Griggs's guard.
Griggs is wriggling around but Fangyu manages to pass to half guard.
