The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rattallan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hernandez sprawls well initially but Rattallan persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Rattallan trying to control from half guard but Hernandez is working away. Rattallan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hernandez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Hernandez is refusing to be controlled, as Rattallan sits in half guard. Hernandez won't allow Rattallan to pass to mount. Rattallan missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Rattallan throws a strike but Hernandez avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Rattallan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Rattallan wants to pass the guard but Hernandez is keeping the position. Rattallan content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Rattallan loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rattallan passes easily into side control. Nice work. Rattallan trying to control the position but Hernandez is working away. Rattallan lands an elbow. Rattallan working the head and body with strikes. Hernandez tries to strike from the bottom but misses. The ground and pound from Rattallan seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Hernandez looks gassed! Rattallan working the ground and pound. Rattallan in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. You can see the frustration on Hernandez's face as Rattallan controls the position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Hernandez avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Rattallan. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rattallan lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Rattallan in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Hernandez is in a horrible position here. Rattallan smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Rattallan lands with some strikes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hernandez taking shots to the head. Rattallan postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Hernandez in real trouble here! The ref calls for Hernandez to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
