PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Laish Tenedos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Lara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lara has chosen Rich Boy - Drop as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tenedos takes the fight into the clinch.
Tenedos wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
With the fighters up against the cage, Lara throws an elbow but misses.
Lara looking to throw knees to the head but Tenedos is blocking nicely.
Tenedos blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Tenedos is trying to break the clinch but Lara has him pressed against the cage.
Lara has Tenedos pressed against the cage, preventing Tenedos from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Lara has Tenedos pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Tenedos manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Tenedos has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Lara is trying to break the clinch but Tenedos has him pressed against the cage.

Tenedos lands a big head kick that sends Lara tumbling to the mat! Tenedos takes a step backwards and waves Lara back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like James Lara has been cut.

Tenedos tries to land knees in the clinch but Lara avoids the damage to the body.

Lara pulls guard effortlessly.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tenedos accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tenedos pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lara is keeping the position for now.
Tenedos keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Lara's head.
Tenedos is fighting to break Lara's control of his arms but Lara is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Tenedos gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
No joy there for Lara, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Tenedos lands a high kick!

Tenedos has taken the fight to the clinch.
Lara is trying to drag Tenedos to the mat but Tenedos just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Laish Tenedos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Lara.
Lara blocks an elbow strike.

Tenedos using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Lara has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Lara breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lara shoots in and drives through. Tenedos sprawls well.

Tenedos has had enough of the clinch but Lara keeps him there for the moment.

and Lara counters by moving into the clinch.

Tenedos gets underhooks to prevent Lara's takedown attempt.
Lara tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Lara jumps into guard, dragging Tenedos to the mat.
Tenedos seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Laish Tenedos wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Tenedos fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lara, pushing him back against the cage.
Tenedos tries to break the clinch but Lara is controlling the position.
Tenedos tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Lara has Tenedos pressed against the cage, preventing Tenedos from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Tenedos blocks a body shot from Lara.
Tenedos is trying to force a seperation but Lara has the dominant position.
Tenedos misses with a knee to the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tenedos is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Lara is keeping busy.
Lara struggles to land a body shot inside as Tenedos controls his hands.

Tenedos manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Lara gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Tenedos counters with a low kick, right behind Lara 's knee.
Tenedos could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Lara takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Lara tries to land a body kick
and Tenedos counters with a leg kick.
Tenedos throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tenedos lands with a kick to the temple. Lara shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Tenedos closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Tenedos is looking to break free of the clinch but Lara has double underhooks.

Tenedos breaks the clinch.
Tenedos throws a head kick that Lara semi-blocks.

Lara is rocked!
Tenedos tries a head kick but it misses.
Lara is still on wobbly legs! Can Tenedos finish him?
Lara is breathing heavily.
Tenedos lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Lara crumples to the floor! Tenedos milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!
