Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Alvas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samuel Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Alvas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Samuel Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Daniel Cesar and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson dives in and scores a takedown into Alvas's guard.
Jackson wants to pass the guard but Alvas is keeping the position.
Jackson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Jackson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jackson wants to control from the top but Alvas keeps moving.

Jackson stands and steps away. Alvas gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Jackson scores with a body shot.

Jackson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Alvas napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alvas tries to bench press Jackson off him but Jackson keeps the position.

Jackson stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Jackson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Alvas tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jackson is in Alvas's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alvas controls Jackson momentarily but Jackson frees himself.

Jackson gets to his feet - Alvas follows without any prompting.

Jackson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Alvas is trying to maintain the position but Jackson is very close to passing his half guard.
Jackson lands strikes from half guard.

Jackson decides to return to a standing position.
Jackson fails to land the takedown.

Jackson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jackson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

It looks like Anderson Alvas has been cut.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Alvas regains half guard.
Jackson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Jackson thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Alvas to regain full guard.

Alvas wants to sweep here but Jackson controlling him for the moment.
Jackson lands a couple of elbows.
Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alvas swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Alvas is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jackson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Alvas looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Alvas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jackson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Jackson stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Jackson connects with a jab.

Jackson with a nice head shot there.
Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alvas swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jackson lands a couple of digs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jackson content to stall in guard here.
Alvas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jackson's guard.
Alvas wants to stand but Jackson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet but Alvas is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Alvas wants to pass the guard but Jackson is keeping the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jackson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alvas's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Samuel Jackson dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Anderson Alvas's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Alvas misses with a low kick as Jackson jumps back.
Alvas buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Alvas connects with an inside leg kick.
Alvas scores with a leg kick.

Alvas gets caught flat footed, as Jackson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Jackson stands up over Alvas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Jackson wants to pass the guard but Alvas is keeping the position.
Alvas controlling the position.
Alvas throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Jackson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Alvas's head.
Jackson scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alvas is trying to control the position but Jackson postures up.
Alvas throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Jackson working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.


Alvas is rocked!


Anderson Alvas's cut is getting worse.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jackson stands up over Alvas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Oh Alvas is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Jackson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Jackson trying to control the position from guard on top but Alvas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Alvas seems to have got his legs back now.
Alvas wants to stand but Jackson is controlling the position.
Jackson forces his way into half guard.
Alvas trying to hold on to Jackson's head to control him but Jackson postures up.

Jackson escapes and gets back to his feet.

Jackson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Jackson looks to score some points with some ground and pound.


Jeez, Anderson Alvas's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Anderson Alvas's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Samuel Jackson!
