Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Silla Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mickey O Neil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kim comes to the cage accompanied by CANON in D Korean Version (with gayageum) . Mickey O Neil has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Silla Kim's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Silla Kim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mickey O Neil!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Steve Erwin and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
O Neil misses with a right hand
and Kim counters with a leg kick.
O Neil swings widly with a right hand
and Kim counters with a nice body kick.
Kim scores with a spinning back kick!
O Neil looks gassed!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
O Neil misses with a body punch
and Kim counters with a nice leg kick.

Kim shoots in and gets a takedown into O Neil's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kim accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kim thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kim throwing strikes but missing.
Kim scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Kim thows a big elbow that misses.
Kim wants to pass the guard but O Neil is keeping the position.
Kim forces his way into half guard.

Kim throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
O Neil keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kim tries to pass the half guard into mount. O Neil knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Kim has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
O Neil keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Kim throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
O Neil won't allow Kim to pass to mount.
Kim looks to land a strike but O Neil avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Kim passes O Neil's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Kim is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, O Neil has managed to free his arm - good work.

O Neil keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
O Neil is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
O Neil is staying active underneath Kim, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Kim passes to side control.
Kim is looking to take a break and control but O Neil is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
O Neil regains half guard, as Kim was trying to land strikes.
O Neil keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Silla Kim dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


O Neil moves out of range as Kim throws a body kick.
O Neil connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Kim slips under a jab from O Neil.
Mickey O Neil seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
O Neil misses with a lunging right hand

and Kim counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Kim trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Kim is looking to advance position but O Neil has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
O Neil prevents Kim from getting the reversal.
Kim throwing hammer fists to the chest of O Neil. What's that going to do exactly?
O Neil wants to control the pace but Kim is squirming around nicely.
Kim can't escape the position.
Kim sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
O Neil is keen to just control but Kim is a slippery customer.

The fighters are battling for position here. Kim manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
O Neilis looking to pass into half guard but Kim pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Kim is in guard.
Kim passes O Neil's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Kim wants to pass the guard but O Neil is defending well.
O Neil blocking the ground and pound attempt from Kim.

O Neil is defending against the submission attempts here by Kim.
Kim wants to lay and pray for a moment but O Neil keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kim is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because O Neil is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kim connects with a nice short shot to O Neil's temple.

Kim is working for a kimura but O Neil is defending it quite comfortably.

O Neil keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Kim throwing shots but O Neil is blocking nicely.
Kim is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
O Neil regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Kim.
Kim throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as O Neil works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kim throws a strike but O Neil rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Kim has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but O Neil can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kim is looking for a triangle but O Neil pushes his legs off easily.
O Neil really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kim. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

O Neil wants to get up but he can't break Kim's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Kim pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Kim misses with a looping left.
O Neil just misses with a punch to the body.
O Neil lands a jab to Kim's midsection.
O Neil slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
O Neil throws a nice looking combination but Kim bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
O Neil misses with a lunging right hand
and Kim counters with a nice leg kick.
O Neil lands with a right hand.
O Neil tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
O Neil throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Kim counters with a thumping low kick.
O Neil misses with a right hand
and Kim makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Kim misses with a kick to the body.
O Neil misses with a lunging right hand
and Kim counters with a body kick that stops O Neil in his tracks momentarily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kim fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt O Neil.
O Neil takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A chopping leg kick lands by Kim.
Kim changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. O Neil tries to avoid it but Kim manages to keep hold of a leg and drag O Neil to the ground. O Neil escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kim throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
O Neil checks a leg kick.
Kim tries to score a power double leg takedown but O Neil sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kim somewhat.
Kim scores with a kick to the body.
O Neil tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Kim tries a head kick but it misses.
Kim throws a head kick but O Neil moves out of range.
O Neil misses with a wild body shot.
Mickey O Neil is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A looping hook to the body misses from O Neil. Kim does a little dance to reset his feet.
Mickey O Neil has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Kim walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. O Neil checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Silla Kim is winning the standup battle so far.
O Neil throws a right hand that Kim ducks under and follows up with a left that Kim also avoids with ease.
O Neil has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kim.
Kim lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Kim misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
O Neil misses with the combination.
O Neil lands a nice looking body shot.
Kim lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
O Neil stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kim.
O Neil thows a body shot but no joy.
Kim pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kim looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? O Neil is fending him off so far but Kim persists. Nope, O Neil circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Silla Kim. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A telegraphed right hand from O Neil misses the target.
A bone on bone clash there as O Neil blocks the leg kick.
A big left from O Neil misses.
Kim on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
O Neil works the jab nicely.
O Neil throws a lazy uppercut
and Kim counters with a left to the body.
Kim scores with a jab.
O Neil sizes up Kim with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Kim throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
O Neil misses with a hook
and Kim counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
O Neil lands a body shot.
O Neil scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kim doesn't seem bothered though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
O Neil throws a series of punches but Kim avoids them all with ease.
Kim ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Nice body kick there by Kim.
Silla Kim is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Kim closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Kim fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and O Neil has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Kim is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that O Neil can do to turn this around?
Kim thumps O Neil with a low kick.
Kim looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Kim moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Kim closes the distance and clinches.
O Neil wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kim has O Neil pressed against the cage, preventing O Neil from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
O Neil wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kim using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
O Neil has a couple of punches blocked by Kim.
A bit of stalling here from Kim.

And that's the end of the fight!
Silla Kim showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kim has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
