Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alysian Karalis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karalis comes to the cage accompanied by Drunkship Of Lanterns by The Mars Volta. Jay Walker will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alysian Karalis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Walker!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Eddie Farnsworth and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A solid leg kick lands there for Walker.
Walker looks to land a left hand but Karalis moved out of range nicely.
Walker pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Walker scores with a decent looking hook.
Walker misses with an uppercut

and Karalis counters with a shoot takedown. Walker fights it but they end up in guard.
Karalis throws a strike but Walker rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Karalis is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Karalis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Walker is one step ahead there.
Karalis avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Walker throwing strikes from guard but Karalis blocks nicely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Walker is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Walker throws out a loose jab but Karalis uses good head movement to avoid it.
Karalis stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Walker.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Karalis walks into a jab.
Walker thows a body shot but no joy.

Walker looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Walker fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Karalis is out of range.

and Karalis counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Karalis.

Walker escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Karalis steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Walker.

and Karalis counters with a left and a right that stings Walker.
Walker throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Karalis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Walker dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Walker tests Karalis's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Karalis takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Jay Walker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Walker, right into the meat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Walker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Walker has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Karalis manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Walker manages to get himself to full guard.

Walker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Karalis swivels though and keeps the full guard.

and Karalis connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Karalis slips a jab from Walker.
A solid leg kick lands there for Walker.
Walker throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Karalis holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Karalis tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Walker's elbow.
Walker keeps control of Karalis as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Karalis misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Karalis wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Still in the clinch, Karalis scores with a nice short uppercut.

Walker escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Karalis would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Karalis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That was a close second round but I would say that Alysian Karalis will probably get the nod.

Karalis is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Walker has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Karalis is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Walker yanks on the arm and Karalis is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Walker.
