Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Quandre Diggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tony Wright!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright lands a lovely overhand right.
Diggs takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Diggs moves forwards but Wright connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Diggs on the wrong end of a nice hook.
A lazy left from Wright finds it's target.
Diggs fails with the takedown
enabling Wright to counter with a crisp jab.

Diggs shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Wright's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wright can do anything to dispel that myth.
Diggs tries to free his leg and advance position but Wright is retaining full guard.
Wright really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diggs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wright wants to sweep here but Diggs controlling him for the moment.

Diggs drops back looking for a leg! Wright is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wright manages to kick Diggs off! Diggs jumps back into Wright's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Diggs is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Diggs postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Wright is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Diggs, into his guard.
Wright is looking to stand up but Diggs won't let him.
Wright looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Diggs looking for a guillotine here but Wright defends easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Diggs tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Wright slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Diggs is looking for a triangle but Wright pushes his legs off easily.
Diggs looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wright is one step ahead there.
Wright has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Diggs is proving hard to escape from.

Wright decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wright pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Diggs back to the cage. Wright follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


It looks like Quandre Diggs has been cut.
Diggs has his takedown stuffed
and Wright counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Diggs is breathing heavily.
Wright lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Diggs swings widly with a right hand
and Wright counters with a left and a right that stings Diggs.
Wright is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Diggs had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Wright lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wright throws an overhand right that drops Diggs like a sack of potatoes! Wright dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tony Wright!
