Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nick James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gokhan Saki!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Wagner Zegers and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by James.
Saki dodges the ground and pound from James.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Saki is looking to regain half guard here but James keeps moving and retains side control.

James is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Saki is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Saki is looking for a sweep.

James goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Saki rolls with the submission and now he's on top in James's guard! Nice work there by Saki!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now James is on top in guard.

James is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Saki is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Saki has escaped and now he's on top!
Saki wants to pass the guard but James is keeping the position.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

James had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Saki defends it easily.
James is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

James throws his legs up looking for a submission but Saki uses it to pass to side control.

James is not content to let Saki control the position.
Saki is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
James is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Saki's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

James is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Saki pulls his head out easily.

James shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Saki but Saki pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Good leg kick by Saki there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Horrible takedown by James or perhaps it was just good defense by Saki which made him look bad.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Saki, right into the meat.
James swings widly with a right hand
and Saki counters with a nice body kick.
James throws a series of punches but Saki avoids them all with ease.

Saki slips a jab and a cross from James.
Saki throws a head kick but James moves out of range.

Saki lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
James throws a shot from downtown. Saki moves away and avoids it.
Saki lands a nice looking kick to the body. James takes a step back to recover.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
James takes a kick to the side of the head.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Saki.
Saki dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on James. That did some damage!
Saki throws a sloppy head kick and James moves out of range easily.

James shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Saki defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick James. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A big head kick from Saki and James is sent sprawling to the canvas!


It looks like Nick James has been cut.

James is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Saki defends well.

Saki got a little sloppy there for a moment and James has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Saki has managed to get both his arms back between James's legs - danger averted.

Gokhan Saki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Saki connects with a high kick.
James misses with a few strikes there.
Crunch! Saki slams his shin into James's torso.
James throws a series of punches but Saki moves out of range.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Saki.
Saki uses good head movement to avoid the hook from James.
A slapping body kick lands there for Saki.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Saki knocks James to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?


James is rocked!

You can see the frustration on James's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Saki trying to control the position but James is working away.
James is trying to control Saki's posture but Saki avoids it.
Saki tries to move to mount but James blocks the move with his legs.
James manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

James is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Gokhan Saki is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

James is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Saki is just riding it out for now. James eventually gives up the hold.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

James goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Saki has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for James but great work by Saki.

I think Saki has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
