Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Simon McBacon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Randy Maurer! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Saam Ante and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McBacon lands with a hook. Maurer tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Maurer instigates a clinch. McBacon breaks from the clinch.
Maurer uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from McBacon. Maurer gets in close and instigates a clinch. McBacon lands a left hand that snaps the head of Maurer backwards. McBacon lands a nice uppercut. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. McBacon gets through Maurer's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. McBacon misses with a shot to the kidneys.
McBacon breaks the clinch.
McBacon fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Maurer has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Maurer has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Maurer there as he acknowledges the shot. The fight stays on the outside here - McBacon looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Maurer gets a double leg takedown into McBacon's guard. McBacon is trying to control the position from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Maurer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Maureris looking to pass into half guard but McBacon pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now McBacon is in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. McBacon preventing the sweep. McBacon trying to control but Maurer is working from the bottom. McBacon loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. McBacon preventing the sweep. McBacon tries to stand but Maurer is controlling from the bottom. Maurer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McBacon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. McBacon lands a few punches from side control. McBacon lands a decent elbow from side control. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! McBacon is looking to take a break and control but Maurer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. McBacon in side control, throwing shots but Maurer defends. McBacon misses with an attempted head punch from side control. McBacon wants to control but Maurer is keeping him busy. McBacon landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Maurer tries to improve position but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The ground and pound from McBacon seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. The strikes coming from McBacon are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Maurer is looking to regain half guard here but McBacon keeps moving and retains side control. McBacon tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. McBacon misses with the ground and pound. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Maurer misses with a strike from the bottom. McBacon slows the pace down. Maurer parries the strikes from McBacon easily there. McBacon is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Maurer to escape.

Maurer is trying to improve his position. McBacon working the ground and pound but Maurer is defending the strikes. Maurer tries to bench press McBacon off him but McBacon keeps the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McBacon is looking to take a break and control but Maurer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. McBacon in side control, throwing shots but Maurer defends. McBacon gets to mount! Maurer was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Maurer is desperately trying to improve his position but McBacon has a good base and remains in mount. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Maurer can do anything to dispel that myth. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McBacon wants to control the pace but Maurer is squirming around nicely. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! McBacon throws some wild stikes that Maurer manages to avoid easily.
Maurer wants to control but McBacon is having none of it. Maurer is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Simon McBacon dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.
A combination from Maurer does no damage. Maurer closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. McBacon regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Maurer. McBacon trying to control the position.
Simon McBacon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Maurer throws a strike but McBacon rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Maurer tries to land a sweep but no joy. Maurer is striking from the bottom but McBacon uses the opportunity to pass into half guard. McBacon throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Maurer wants to get back to full guard. We're going to have a standup here because Simon McBacon wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Maurer ducks under a wild hook from McBacon. Maurer drives through with a takedown into McBacon's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Maurer throws and elbow that misses. McBacon uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Maurer's guard. Nice move by McBacon! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Maurer avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. That's three minutes gone in the round. Maurer is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. McBacon won't allow Maurer to sweep him here. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. McBacon is looking to work some ground and pound but Maurer has wrist control. McBacon chips away with some ground and pound. McBacon works over Maurer with some ground and pound from guard. Maurer preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. McBacon in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. McBacon makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. McBacon loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Maurer can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McBacon controls the pace. Maurer keeping moving, preventing McBacon from controlling successfully. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Maurer looking to hit a scissor sweep but McBacon is one step ahead there.

McBacon postures up in Maurer's guard and throws a big left but Maurer blocks it. Maurer avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. McBacon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Maurer throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. McBacon trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Maurer striking off his back but it's not causing McBacon any problems. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Maurer keeping moving, preventing McBacon from controlling successfully. McBacon preventing the sweep. Maurer throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

That was a close second round but I would say that Simon McBacon will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Maurer fails with a takedown attempt. McBacon tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Maurer manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Maurer has taken the fight to the clinch.
McBacon is pressed up against the ropes. Maurer has hold of a leg and is looking to drag McBacon down to the mat. McBacon avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. McBacon wants to clinch. Horrible takedown by Maurer or perhaps it was just good defense by McBacon which made him look bad. Simon McBacon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Randy Maurer. McBacon misses the jab. McBacon listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. A left lands for McBacon. McBacon throws a hook but Maurer avoids it easily. McBacon misses with a hook. Maurer ducked under it nicely. That's one minute gone in the round. McBacon throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Maurer's head. A big left from McBacon misses. Maurer looks to score with a jab to the body but McBacon is just out of range. Maurer dodges the punch combination from McBacon.
McBacon moves in looking to clinch but Maurer pushes him off. Maurer looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Maurer clinches with his opponent.

McBacon slaps away a takedown attempt from Maurer, before circling back to the center of the mat. Maurer throws a leg kick that misses. Maurer clinches with his opponent.

McBacon is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McBacon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Maurer misses with the combination.
Simon McBacon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Maurer takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Maurer has McBacon up against the ropes in a clinch.
Maurer tries to score a body lock takedown but McBacon shows good agility there to stay on his feet. McBacon lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Maurer backwards. McBacon landing knees to the body.

McBacon loads up on a big right hand but Maurer slips the punch. McBacon rushes Maurer and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch. McBacon lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Maurer or not. McBacon lands a hook to the side of the head. McBacon lands with a short shot to the head. McBacon lands with a short shot to the head. McBacon has Maurer pushed against the ropes. A shot in the inside from McBacon. A nice right hand lands inside from McBacon. McBacon lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Maurer tries to score a body lock takedown but McBacon shows good agility there to stay on his feet. McBacon breaks from the clinch.

A battle for position here, against the ropes. A short uppercut from McBacon. Both guys are working to get underhooks. A nice left hand lands by McBacon.
Maurer is trying to work for a single leg takedown but McBacon pulls him back up using the underhooks. A left hand lands to the body for McBacon.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from McBacon. McBacon throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Maurers head. Maurer looking to stall.
McBacon breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maurer shoots for a takedown but McBacon saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. McBacon lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. McBacon is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Maurer. Simon McBacon is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. McBacon is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Maurer blocks a head kick by McBacon.
Maurer misses with a wild body shot. McBacon sizes up Maurer with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Randy Maurer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. McBacon stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Horrible takedown by Maurer or perhaps it was just good defense by McBacon which made him look bad. Nice shot lands for McBacon. Maurer forces McBacon back against the ropes and clinches. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! McBacon taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Maurer jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McBacon walks away with a smile on his face. Maurer gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Randy Maurer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! McBacon is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. McBacon avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
And that's the end of the fight! Simon McBacon showed his dominance in that final round. Well McBacon has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
