Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Demian Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gio Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Demian Maia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gio Stone!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stone throws a right and a left that both miss.
Maia doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Stone counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Stone is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Maia doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Stone.
Maia kicks Stone off and gets back to his feet.
Maia misses with a wild combination.
Stone fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Maia to the ground. Stone is now in Maia's guard.
Maia has his feet on Stone's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Maia decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Maia is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Stone tries to get to full guard but Maia has control of the leg.
Maia prevents Stone from standing back up.

Maia is trying to work for a kimura but Stone is defending well.
Maia uses his free foot to push down on Stone's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Stone.
Maia is breathing heavily.
Stone really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Maia looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Stone wants to control but Maia is having none of it.
Stone is in all sorts of trouble here.
Stone is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Maia moves to his opponent's back but Stone bucks him off and ends up in guard. A bit of a disaster there for Maia.
Maia looking for a guillotine here but Stone defends easily.
Maia isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Stone stacks Maia on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Stone!

Stone stands up and beckons Maia to his feet.

Maia misses with a takedown
and Stone counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Maia's guard now.
Maia had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Stone defends it easily.
Stone cracks Maia with a solid left hand.
Stone works over Maia with some ground and pound from guard.
Stone slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Maia looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Stone must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Maia is working an open guard so Stone takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Stone counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Demian Maia. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Maia is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Stone defends well.
Stone tries to free his leg and advance position but Maia is retaining full guard.
Stone controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Stone's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Maia has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stone can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Maia is working an open guard so Stone takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gio Stone dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Maia scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Stone is looking to regain half guard here but Maia keeps moving and retains side control.
Maia is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Stone knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maia working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
You can see the frustration on Stone's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Stone is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Stone holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
