7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Johnson! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson shoots in and drives through. Kim sprawls well. A big right from Johnson misses. Johnson tries to bum rush Kim with a series of wild strikes but Kim uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Horrible takedown by Johnson or perhaps it was just good defense by Kim which made him look bad. Johnson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown but Kim manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Johnson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Jed Kim has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Johnson. Kim dips to his left and cracks Johnson with an uppercut! Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kim as he jumps to the side. Good exchange - Kim coming out on top. Decent striking displayed by Kim there. Johnson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kim tries to avoid it but Johnson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kim to the ground. Kim escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Johnson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kim.

Kim trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Johnson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Johnson controlling the position. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Michael Johnson wasn't active enough on the ground. Kim fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Johnson on the side of the head. Kim is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A punch lands to the side of Kim 's head but he takes it in his stride. That was a close round but Jed Kim did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
