PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Punch DaFace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raul Ewing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ewing has chosen B.o.B. - Created A Monster as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Punch DaFace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raul Ewing!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Eddie Farnsworth and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DaFace misses with a combination
and Ewing makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. DaFace really felt that one!
A shot to the body from Ewing misses
and DaFace counters with a lovely straight right hand!
A combination from DaFace does no damage.
DaFace throws a sloppy head kick

and Ewing counters with a single leg into guard. DaFace didn't expect that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ewing slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
DaFace avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
DaFace is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ewing is controlling him.
DaFace has momentary wrist control but Ewing slips an elbow through the middle.
Ewing stands up over DaFace, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Ewing lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Ewing decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on DaFace, up you get!
DaFace tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Ewing counters with a head kick.

Ewing closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Ewing takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Ewing not doing much here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ewing lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ewing perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Ewing sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. DaFace defending well though.
Ewing is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ewing is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Ewing stalling.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
DaFace wants to get back to his feet.
Ewing winds up and cracks DaFace with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
DaFace knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ewing on the ground.
DaFace tries to kick Ewing off but Ewing keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Ewing has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

DaFace pushes Ewing off but Ewing dives into side control.

Ewing decides to take the fight back to the feet.
DaFace throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Ewing counters with a two punch combo.

Ewing moves into the clinch.
DaFace is trying to push Ewing away but Ewing has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Ewing is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A short body shot lands from Ewing as the two fighters clinch.
Ewing is pushing DaFace up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Ewing's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ewing throws an uppercut from half a mile away. DaFace sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Ewing moves into the clinch successfully.
Ewing has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. DaFace is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raul Ewing dominated that round.
That's time! DaFace's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


DaFace has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Ewing.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Ewing, right into the meat.
Ewing tries a head kick but it misses.
A combination from Ewing does no damage.
Ewing throws a nice inside leg kick.
DaFace tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Ewing moves into the clinch.
Ewing is working for takedown but DaFace is calmly controlling the position for now.
DaFace has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ewing avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
DaFace goes for a takedown in the clinch but Ewing prevents it.
DaFace looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Knees to the body from Ewing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ewing breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
DaFace misses with a double jab.
Ewing feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to DaFace's calf.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ewing dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Ewing fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging DaFace to the ground. Ewing is now in DaFace's guard.

Ewing content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Ewing scoring with some ground and pound.
DaFace is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Ewing controls from within his opponent's guard.
Ewing is working DaFace over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Ewing slips nicely into half guard.

Ewing stalling.
DaFace wants to get back to his feet.
Raul Ewing has got the better of the ground game so far.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Raul Ewing was stalling too much, according to the referee.
A combination from Ewing does no damage.

DaFace throws a combination that misses
and Ewing counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Punch DaFace is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A head kick misses from Ewing.
Ewing tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ewing throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ewing rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but DaFace moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Ewing clinches.
Ewing has DaFace pressed against the cage, preventing DaFace from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
DaFace has had enough of the clinch but Ewing keeps him there for the moment.
DaFace takes a knee right on the jaw!


It looks like Punch DaFace has been cut.
DaFace has Ewing pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ewing manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Punch DaFace. That's going to take a lot out of him.
DaFace takes an elbow to the forehead.
DaFace is trying to break the clinch but Ewing is controlling him.
DaFace tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
DaFace takes a knee right on the jaw!
Ewing lands an elbow inside that DaFace shrugs off.
A shot in the inside from Ewing.


Punch DaFace's cut is getting worse.
Ewing connects with a nasty looking knee right to DaFace's face.
DaFace drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Ewing breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
DaFace misses with a takedown attempt

and Ewing counters by moving into the clinch.

Ewing breaks the clinch.
Ewing connects with a solid leg kick.
Ewing throws a head kick but DaFace moves out of range.
DaFace throws a nice looking combination but Ewing bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Ewing thows a body shot but no joy.
Ewing looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nice uppercut lands for Ewing. That snapped DaFace's head back.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Ewing, as that shot connected.


Punch DaFace's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Ewing fails in his attempt to clinch.
Ewing lands a brutal head kick. DaFace looks out on his feet and Ewing throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick and Punches). Raul Ewing!
