PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mauricio Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Silva!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua misses with a jab, cross combination.
Silva looks gassed!

Rua moves into the clinch.
Rua crunches a lovely knee into Silva's ribcage.
Rua tries a knee to the head but Silva blocks it.
Knees in the clinch landing for Rua.
Rua throws a knee to the head but misses.
Rua lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Rua throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Silva blocks it with crossed arms.

Rua gets control of Silva's arms and successfully pulls guard. Rua will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rua is on top in guard.

Rua drops back looking for a leg! Silva is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Silva manages to kick Rua off! Rua jumps back into Silva's guard.
Rua is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rua drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Rua seems to have locked his on tight now - Silva screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Rua, as he picks up the win!
