Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rob Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Verdmont Bronson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Silva might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to MC Primo - Diretoria. The crowd seem to be enjoying Bronson's choice of entrance music: So long and thanks for all the fish. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rob Silva!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Verdmont Bronson!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Daniel Cesar and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bronson misses with a jab to the body

and Silva counters with a shoot takedown. Bronson fights it but they end up in guard.
Silva trying to control the position from guard on top but Bronson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bronson wants to stand up but Silva is controlling him.
Silva will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Silva drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Bronson dives on top into guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Silva is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bronson is aware though and is defending well.
Silva is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Rob Silva just wasn't active enough.
Silva misses with a takedown
and Bronson counters with a stiff right hand.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Silva lands a jab to the head.
Silva changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bronson tries to avoid it but Silva manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bronson to the ground. Bronson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bronson as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rob Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bronson misses with a wild body shot.

Silva looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bronson is fending him off so far but Silva persists. Nope, Bronson circles away and we're back to standing.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but Bronson shows good takedown defense.
Bronson misses with a hook
and Silva counters with a stiff right hand.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Silva.
Silva gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Bronson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Silva throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

and Silva counters with a nice double leg into guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rob Silva will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Bronson lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Bronson.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bronson. Silva does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Silva takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Bronson throws a right hand that misses

so Silva counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Silva is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bronson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bronson has escaped and now he's on top!
Bronson is fighting to break Silva's control of his arms but Silva is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Bronson wants to get up but he can't break Silva's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bronson pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Silva.
Silva fails with the takedown
and Bronson counters with a stiff right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rob Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Silva takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Rob Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bronson ducks under a wild hook from Silva.
Verdmont Bronson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bronson works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Silva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bronson's waist but Bronson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Silva off to one side.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Silva scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Silva is looking for a kimura here.

Bronson manages to escape and get back to his feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Verdmont Bronson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Rob Silva overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Bronson wants to sweep here but Silva controlling him for the moment.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Silva with a flurry of punches that miss.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rob Silva.
Silva shoots in but Bronson avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Silva counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Bronson regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Silva.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Silva looking to sit in guard and control but Bronson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Silva not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Rob Silva just wasn't active enough.
Silva shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bronson but Bronson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rob Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bronson swings away with a body shot that misses
and Silva counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nice shot lands for Bronson.
