Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryan Oliver! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ted Scheckler! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Roberts and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick by Oliver misses and Scheckler counters with a low kick, right behind Oliver 's knee. A head kick misses from Oliver. Scheckler lands a nice leg kick that just misses Oliver's sensitive parts. Oliver throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Scheckler scores with a takedown into Oliver's guard. Scheckler working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Oliver looking for a sweep. Not yet Oliver, not yet. Oliver keeping full guard, as Scheckler tries to pass. Scheckler wants to control from the top but Oliver keeps moving. Oliver on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Oliver tries to get out of the position. Scheckler stopping the sweep attempt from Oliver. Scheckler pushing down on Oliver's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scheckler wants to control but Oliver is keeping him busy. Scheckler controlling the pace. Oliver wants to get back to full guard but Scheckler has mounted him! Scheckler looking to control but Oliver is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Scheckler might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Oliver kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. BOOM! Scheckler connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Scheckler trying to control but Oliver is having none of it. Scheckler looking for a guillotine from mount but Oliver is having none of it. Scheckler sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
That's three minutes gone in the round. It looks like Scheckler might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Oliver's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Scheckler controlling his opponent. Oliver is in all sorts of trouble here.
Oliver tries to buck Scheckler off but he can't manage it. Scheckler swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Oliver is now in Scheckler's guard. A big mistake from Scheckler there, giving up the dominant position! A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Scheckler holds on and takes a little breather. Oliver has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Ted Scheckler has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Oliver throws a head kick but Scheckler moves out of range.
Ryan Oliver is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Oliver throws a lazy head kick and Scheckler counters with a slapping leg kick. Scheckler moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Oliver tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Oliver chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Scheckler can pounce on him.
Ryan Oliver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. An inside leg kick lands from Scheckler. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Scheckler moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. A nice leg kick lands there from Scheckler. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Scheckler.

Scheckler moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ted Scheckler dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Scheckler shoots in but Oliver avoids the takedown attempt easily. Scheckler throws a quick inside leg kick. A head kick misses from Oliver. Oliver throws a lazy head kick and Scheckler counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Scheckler winds up and cracks Oliver with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Oliver knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Scheckler on the ground. Oliver won't allow Scheckler to pass to mount. Scheckler has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Oliver defend it? Scheckler steps over the head and cranks it - Oliver is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Scheckler!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ted Scheckler!
