Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Wattson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gordon Gonzaga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Wattson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gordon Gonzaga!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzaga fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Wattson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Gonzaga scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Wattson doesn't seem bothered though.
Gonzaga feints and as Wattson raises his hands in defense, Gonzaga changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Gonzaga is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Gonzaga won't allow Wattson to sweep him here.
Wattson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gonzaga manages to get himself to full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Wattson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Gonzaga wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Gonzaga looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wattson is one step ahead there.
Gonzaga has his foot on Wattson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wattson works his way back into a safe position though.
Gonzaga tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Wattson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gonzaga's guard.

Gonzaga makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gonzaga.
Wattson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gonzaga manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Wattson has Gonzaga in his guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gonzaga stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wattson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Wattson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Wattson has momentary wrist control but Gonzaga slips an elbow through the middle.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

and Gonzaga counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nice shot lands for Gonzaga.
Wattson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Gonzaga counters with a takedown into side control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Check out the look on Gonzaga's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Wattson tries to bench press Gonzaga off him but Gonzaga keeps the position.

Wattson could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Wattson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Wattson wants to get back to full guard.
Gonzaga has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Wattson is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Gonzaga pulls his head out easily.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Wattson misses with a takedown attempt
and Gonzaga counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Wattson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wattson moves out of range as Gonzaga throws a body kick.
Gonzaga keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
It looks like Steve Wattson has been cut.
Gonzaga throws a nice looking combination but Wattson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Gonzaga counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gonzaga.

Wattson quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Gonzaga has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Wattson celebrates on the ropes, with the crowd.
