The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas swings for the body but Saunders moves out of range.

Thomas shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Saunders manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Thomas is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Saunders utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The ref stands the fighters back up. DeMarcus Thomas was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Thomas misses with an uppercut. Saunders saw that one coming.
Sloppy strikes from Thomas. Those never looked like landing.

and Thomas moves into the clinch.
Thomas tries to pull guard but Saunders won't allow it.

Thomas breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Thomas wants the takedown. Saunders is fighting it off but Thomas persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Saunders's guard against the cage.

Thomas stands and steps away. Saunders gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Saunders fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Thomas looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Saunders throws out a powerful jab.
Saunders darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Saunders missing with a left hand there. Thomas was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Saunders tries to bum rush Thomas with a series of wild strikes but Thomas uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Saunders throws a series of punches but Thomas avoids them all with ease.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Thomas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

OK we're going to have a standup here. DeMarcus Thomas hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

DeMarcus Thomas has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Thomas misses with an uppercut.
Saunders throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Saunders throws a right and a left that both miss.

Thomas shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Thomas is nestled in close to Saunders, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to DeMarcus Thomas.
I think Thomas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
