PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dai Vernon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kg Grievous (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vernon comes to the cage accompanied by Ari Gold - Let's Hug It Out, BITCH. Kg Grievous is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dai Vernon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kg Grievous!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grievous misses with a takedown
and Vernon counters with a body kick that stops Grievous in his tracks momentarily.

Vernon dives in and scores a takedown into Grievous's guard.
Vernon stands up over Grievous, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Vernon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Vernon slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Vernon decides to stand back up. Vernon steps back and let's Grievous get back to his feet.
Vernon scores with a kick to the midsection.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Grievous takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Vernon decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Grievous is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Vernon scores with a couple of nice shots.
Vernon content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Vernon has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Vernon escapes and gets back to his feet.
Vernon lands with a kick to the ribs.
Vernon scores with the left hand. Grievous knows he should have avoided that one.

Vernon stands and throws Grievous's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Vernon lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Grievous down.
Vernon is chipping away with strikes.
Vernon cracks Grievous with a big elbow.
Vernon works to advance to full mount. Grievous defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Grievous can do anything to dispel that myth.

Vernon tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The referee warns Grievous that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Grievous really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vernon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

It looks like Kg Grievous has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Vernon lands a big shot there that rocks Grievous but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Grievous takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Vernon cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Vernon lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Vernon takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Vernon pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Vernon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Vernon lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Grievous hang on?

Grievous is rocked!
Grievous takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Vernon's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
