The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn lands with a shot to the body.
Penn throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lefleaur rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Penn counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Penn.

Lefleaur really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Penn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Penn postures up in Lefleaur's guard and throws a big left but Lefleaur blocks it.
Penn throws and elbow that misses. Lefleaur uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Penn's guard. Nice move by Lefleaur!
Penn manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lefleaur manages to get himself to full guard.
Penn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Penn postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Penn slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Penn is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lefleaur is just riding it out for now. Penn eventually gives up the hold.
