Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ocscar Grouch! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Grouch! Grouch looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! James sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. James seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Grouch for as long as he can get away with. James trying to control but he's not successful this time. James controlling the pace for now. James trying to control but Grouch is having none of it.

We're going to have a standup here because John James wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Grouch dodges the punch combination from James.
Grouch gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows James to score an easy takedown into full guard. James not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Grouch keeping moving, preventing James from controlling successfully. James stays in close to Grouch's body and controls the position. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. James won't allow Grouch to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of John James. James decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. James is pressing down on Grouch's thigh, looking to free his foot. Grouch is holding on for now. James wants to lay and pray for a moment but Grouch keeps working. James is just content to waste time from the top position. Grouch takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. James controls from within his opponent's guard. James's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up because John James just wasn't active enough. Grouch shoots in for a takedown but James shows good takedown defense. James instigates a clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James tries to free his leg and advance position but Grouch is retaining full guard. James sitting in guard here, content to control.

James will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. The ref stands the fighters back up. John James wasn't doing enough on the ground. James looking for a takedown here - he's got it. James looking to sit in guard and control but Grouch gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Grouch is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. There's a bit of a scramble here and now James is on top in guard.

John James dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Grouch shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with James but James pushes him off and we're back to square one. James feints and as Grouch raises his hands in defense, James changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. James is stalling in the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The ref stands the fighters back up. John James wasn't doing enough on the ground. James closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. James moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. James wants to lay and pray for a moment but Grouch keeps working. Grouch gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! James controlling from mount.

Ocscar Grouch has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! James slowing the pace effectively. Grouch is fighting off a takedown attempt but James is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Grouch to the mat. Grouch regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. James showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Grouch wants to stand but James is controlling the position.

John James is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. James has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Grouch regains guard immediately.
And that's the end of the fight! John James showed his dominance in that final round. Well James has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
