Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jin Shiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aleksandr Fedorov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jin Shiro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Aleksandr Fedorov! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shiro misses with a takedown and Fedorov counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Fedorov. Fedorov stands up from guard. Let's bang! Fedorov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Shiro shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Fedorov counters with a takedown into side control. Fedorov trying to control the position but Shiro is working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shiro is looking to regain half guard here but Fedorov keeps moving and retains side control. You can see the frustration on Shiro's face as Fedorov controls the position. Fedorov stands up. Fedorov closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Fedorov looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Shiro is avoiding damage well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here. Fedorov tries to move to mount but Shiro blocks the move with his legs. Fedorov stands up and beckons Shiro to his feet. Fedorov tries for a takedown but Shiro circles away easily and Shiro counters with a nice double leg into side control. Fedorov won't be happy with that.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shiro tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Shiro has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Shiro is breathing heavily. Fedorov gets back to half guard. Fedorov moves into full guard.
Fedorov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shiro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Shiro is fighting to break Fedorov's control of his arms but Fedorov is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Shiro prevents Fedorov from getting back to his feet. Fedorov seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Fedorov is looking to stand up but Shiro isn't so interested in that idea. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Fedorov looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Fedorov keeping moving, preventing Shiro from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Aleksandr Fedorov dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Shiro tries to clinch but fails miserably and Fedorov counters with a single leg into guard. Shiro didn't expect that. Fedorov looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Fedorov got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shiro has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Fedorov has managed to get both his arms back between Shiro's legs - danger averted. Shiro can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Fedorov controls the pace. Shiro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fedorov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Fedorov content to stall in guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fedorov thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Fedorov wants to stand and escape but instead Shiro has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Shiro trying to move into half guard but instead Fedorov has managed to sweep! Shiro has a closed guard, preventing Fedorov from standing up. Fedorov controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Fedorov wants to control from the top but Shiro keeps moving. Shiro working a defensive guard here.
Fedorov content to stall in guard here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Aleksandr Fedorov has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Shiro with a poor takedown and Fedorov counters with a shoot takedown. Shiro fights it but they end up in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shiro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fedorov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Fedorov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Fedorov slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Let's hope that Fedorov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Fedorov won't allow Shiro to get back to his feet.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Aleksandr Fedorov. Fedorov misses with a takedown attempt - Shiro sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Fedorov forces Shiro back against the cage and clinches. Fedorov gets underhooks to prevent Shiro's takedown attempt.
Fedorov is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Shiro can't fight it off and eventually Fedorov manages to take the fight to the floor. Shiro looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Fedorov showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Fedorov tries to stand but Shiro is controlling from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Aleksandr Fedorov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Aleksandr Fedorov wasn't active enough on the ground. Fedorov gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Fedorov lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Shiro. Fedorov manages to break the clinch.
A left and a right from Fedorov both land. Nice combination. Shiro shoots and misses and Fedorov counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Fedorov.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fedorov stands and steps away. Shiro gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Fedorov is looking to clinch. Fedorov shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Still in half guard, Fedorov seems content to control. Fedorov seems to be looking for submissions.
Fedorov is looking for a kimura but Shiro is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Fedorov to get the leverage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fedorov controlling the action here. Shiro is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Fedorov pulls his head out easily. Fedorov stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Shiro to get to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Fedorov fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Shiro, pushing him back against the cage. Fedorov tries to score a body lock takedown but Shiro shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Shiro is pressed up against the cage. Fedorov has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Shiro down to the mat. Shiro avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Shiro displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Fedorov. Jin Shiro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aleksandr Fedorov. Fedorov looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
And that's the end of the fight! Aleksandr Fedorov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Fedorov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
