Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paul Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timber Lake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carter kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is MMA highlights 2010. Timber Lake will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Carter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Timber Lake! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carter throws a combination. Lake tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Carter tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lake was well out of range. Poor timing from Carter. Lake misses with a combination
and Carter counters with a right hand to the body. Sloppy strikes from Lake. Those never looked like landing. Lake goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Paul Carter has been cut. A looping hook to the body misses from Lake. Carter does a little dance to reset his feet. Carter takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Lake ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Carter moves away. Carter looks to throw the jab but Lake is out of range. Lake looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Carter just misses with a punch to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Lake lands a nice shot that snaps Carter's head back.
Nice defenses there by Lake. Carter throws a lazy right hand but Lake sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Paul Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Carter scores with a sloppy right hand. Lake should have avoided that one. Lake throws a low kick, looking for Carter's leg but Carter calmly moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sloppy strikes from Lake. Those never looked like landing. Lake misses with an uppercut. Carter throws a nice looking combination but Lake bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Lake uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Carter. Lake throws a series of punches but Carter avoids them all with ease. Lake leaves Carter with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Lake misses with a double jab
and Carter counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Carter throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Carter connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Lake's hands. Lake throws a right and a left that Carter avoids nicely. Lake throws a right and a left that Carter avoids nicely. Lake misses with a two punch combination.
Carter looks to land a left hand but Lake moved out of range nicely. Lake uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Carter.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lake fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Carter manages to avoid it. Lake lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Lake slips under a jab. Carter misses with a wild combination.

Lake throws a big shot that misses. Lake smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Lake walks into a jab. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Lake looks to score with a jab to the body but Carter is just out of range. Lake throws a right hand that Carter ducks under and follows up with a left that Carter also avoids with ease. Carter slips a jab and a cross from Lake.
Timber Lake is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Lake throws a combination that misses and Carter counters with a nice body shot. Lake uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Carter.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lake as he avoids it easily. Lake looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Carter misses with a wild body shot. Carter throws a series of punches but Lake avoids them all with ease. Carter looking to score a takedown here. Lake is defending well but Carter drives through and ends up in Lake's guard. Lake keeping moving, preventing Carter from controlling successfully. Carter throwing strikes from guard but Lake blocks nicely. Lake is trying to control the position from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Carter dodges the punch combination from Lake.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lake fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Carter manages to avoid it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Paul Carter will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Paul Carter's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
Lake doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. A swing and a miss from Carter. Lake tests Carter's chin there with a solid looking shot. Lake throws a left and a right that both miss
and Carter counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Carter. Lake tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Carter content to stall in guard here. Carter chips away with some ground and pound. Carter wants to pass the guard but Lake is keeping the position. Carter controlling from the top position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Carter stopping the sweep attempt from Lake. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carter trying to control but Lake is working from the bottom. Carter wants to pass the guard but Lake is keeping the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Paul Carter. Lake misses with a two punch combination.
Carter throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lake's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Lake duly obliges. Carter is looking to wear down Lake with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Lake swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carter throws a good cross that connects.
Lake throws the kick towards the body but Carter avoids it. Lake misses with a few strikes there.
Carter works the jab nicely. Carter is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Lake misses with a few strikes there.

Lake is breathing heavily. A combination from Lake does no damage. Lake lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Carter circles away quickly and effectively. Lake throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Lake throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Carter slips a jab and a cross from Lake.

Timber Lake seems to be getting the better of the standup. Lake on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Carter cracks Lake with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Lake fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Carter bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Lake lunges at Carter with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Carter's hand. Lake throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Carter throws a body punch but Lake moves out of range. Lake on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Carter is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lake. Carter tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lake sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Carter somewhat. No joy there for Lake, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lake defending well as Carter loads up on a big left hand. Carter throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Lake sees it coming and avoids it easily. Lake misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Carter.

and Carter takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Lake throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and Lake counters with a lovely shot to the body. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Good shot there by Carter. Some wild striking there from Lake.

Lake will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Carter swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Paul Carter dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Paul Carter's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
A slow jab from Lake misses its intended target. Lake scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Carter keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Carter decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Carter trying to control from Lake's half guard. Lake has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Lake keeping moving, preventing Carter from controlling successfully. Lake is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Lake might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Carter kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter looking to sit in guard and control but Lake gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Carter is trying to hold Lake in close to prevent damage but Lake has managed to pass into half guard.
Carter is pressing down on Lake's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Lake trying to control but Carter is working from the bottom. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carter is on top in guard.
Carter passes Lake's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Lake takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Carter not landing any meaningful shots this time. Carter throwing shots but Lake is blocking nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carter is looking to take a break and control but Lake is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Carter seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Lake is defending against the submission attempts here by Carter.

Carter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Lake is trying to get back to full guard. Lake has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Carter is working away from the top position though. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Carter trying to pass the guard but Lake defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lake on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Carter is figuring out what he wants to do next. Carter stalling away here and it's allowed Lake to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Carter tries to free his leg and advance position but Lake is retaining full guard. Carter throwing strikes but missing. Carter pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lake is keeping the position for now. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Carter preventing the sweep. Lake keeping moving, preventing Carter from controlling successfully.
And that's the end of the fight! Paul Carter showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Carter, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
