Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, John Doe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sarel Labuschagne! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Chris Edwards and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Doe shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Labuschagne sprawls well. Labuschagne wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Doe gets slowly back to his feet. Labuschagne ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Doe moves into range and clinches up with Labuschagne. Doe jumps guard and drags Labuschagne to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Doe pulls Labuschagne in close to his closed guard and prevents Labuschagne from doing any damage or advancing position. Labuschagne wants to get up but he can't break Doe's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Doe working for submissions but it's allowed Labuschagne to get to half guard.
Doe controlling the position well. Labuschagne decides to stand and escape the position. Labuschagne throws a shot from downtown. Doe moves away and avoids it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Labuschagne throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Labuschagne throws a leg kick and Doe counters by clinching up. Doe has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Labuschagne regains guard immediately. Doe's corner is telling him to maintain position. Labuschagne wants to sweep here but Doe controlling him for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Doe slips nicely into half guard. Doe takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Doe has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We're going to have a standup here because John Doe wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Labuschagne throws a leg kick and Doe decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Labuschagne's guard. Labuschagne keeping full guard, as Doe tries to pass. Doe throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Doe looking to pass the guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Doe slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Doe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Labuschagne swivels though and keeps the full guard. Doe slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up because John Doe just wasn't active enough. Labuschagne throws a leg kick and Doe counters with a nice double leg into side control. Labuschagne won't be happy with that. Doe tries for a kimura but Labuschagne is defending well. Doe takes a little break here. Labuschagne wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Doe dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Labuschagne decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Doe kicks Labuschagne off and gets back to his feet. Labuschagne throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Doe counters by moving into the clinch. A bit of stalling here from Doe.
Doe goes for a takedown in the clinch but Labuschagne prevents it.
Doe has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Labuschagne regains guard immediately.
That's one minute gone in the round. Doe won't allow Labuschagne to get back to his feet. Doe advances to half guard. Doe keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Doe looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Labuschagne with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Doe performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Doe gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Labuschagne misses with a combination
and Doe counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Labuschagne! Doe controlling from the full mount. Doe throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Labuschagne has his hands clasped together but Doe breaks the hold and Labuschagne is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Doe!
