Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Murdock! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John Marston! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Richard Clark and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Murdock's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Murdock duly obliges. Murdock tries to clinch but fails miserably and Marston counters with a takedown into side control. Marston tries for a kimura but Murdock is defending well. Marston is working Murdock over with some ground and pound from side control. Marston decides to stand back up. Marston shoots in for a double leg but Murdock sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Murdock dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Marston. That did some damage! Murdock drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marston wants to sweep here but Murdock controlling him for the moment. Murdock trying to control but Marston is working from the bottom. Marston is adopting a defensive guard. Murdock trying to control but Marston is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
We're going to have a standup here because Joe Murdock wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Murdock tries to clinch up and Marston counters with a nice double leg into side control. Murdock won't be happy with that. Murdock wants to get back to his feet. Murdock seems a little lost for a moment, as Marston dominates the positioning.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marston in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Marston working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Murdock tries to get back to half guard but can't. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marston decides to take the fight back to the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Murdock leaves Marston with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Murdock scores with a slapping inside leg kick. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. A cross from Murdock lands. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Marston dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Murdock shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Murdock looking to control but Marston is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marston tries to hold on but Murdock pushes him away. Marston is desperately trying to improve his position but Murdock has a good base and remains in mount. Murdock wants to stand but Marston is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Murdock wants to control the pace but Marston is squirming around nicely. Marston can't escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Marston really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Marston holds on to Murdock around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks. Murdock looking to control but Marston is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Marston bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

John Marston has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Murdock pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Murdock gets caught flat footed, as Marston shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Marston pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Murdock is keeping the position for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marston throws a strike but Murdock rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Marston wants to sweep here but Murdock controlling him for the moment. Marston has a closed guard, preventing Murdock from standing up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Murdock trying to control the position from guard on top but Marston is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Joe Murdock will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Murdock closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Marston's guard. Marston looking for a sweep. Not yet Marston, not yet. Murdock is looking to stand up but Marston won't let him. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Marston is on top in guard.
Marston trying to control but Murdock is working from the bottom. Murdock keeping full guard, as Marston tries to pass.

Marston drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Murdock manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Marston has Murdock in his guard. Murdock stopping the sweep attempt from Marston. John Marston has got the better of the ground game so far. Murdock wants to stand but Marston is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Marston has his hands on Murdock's head, controlling the position. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Marston tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Murdock is fighting to break Marston's control of his arms but Marston is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Marston wants to sweep here but Murdock controlling him for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Murdock tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Marston. Murdock is pressing down on Marston's thigh, looking to free his foot. Marston is holding on for now. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Marston controlling the position for now.
