The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez looks to throw the jab but Jackson is out of range.
Mendez fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Jackson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Jackson darts in and clinches Mendez up against the cage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Jackson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Jackson tries for a takedown but Mendez circles away easily
and Mendez counters with a three punch combo that has Jackson backing up. Jackson nods at Mendez to acknowledge the strikes.
A combination from Mendez does no damage.
Jackson throws a right and a left that Mendez avoids nicely.

and Jackson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mendez!
