Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Layfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Norris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Norris's choice of entrance music: Jayz(Run This Town). Fred Norris will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Layfield stuffs the takedown. Layfield with a lazy takedown attempt and Norris holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Layfield tries for a takedown but Norris manages to get underhooks.

Fred Norris dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Norris. Layfield shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Norris counters with a nice double leg into side control. Layfield won't be happy with that. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Norris. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Norris working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Norris is chipping away with strikes.
Layfield is looking to reverse the position. Layfield takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Layfield tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Norris wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Norris throwing shots but Layfield is blocking nicely. Norris landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Norris seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Layfield does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Layfield is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Norris scores with a couple of nice shots. Fred Norris has got the better of the ground game so far. Norris is thwarting Layfield's attempts to control the position. Norris thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Layfield's head.
