Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rafael Narvaez!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Partlow!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Partlow misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Narvaez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Chris Partlow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Good work by Partlow as he checks the leg kick.
A head kick misses from Narvaez.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Partlow swings away with a body shot that misses
and Narvaez counters with a nice leg kick.
Partlow dives in and grabs Narvaez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Narvaez pushes down on Partlow's head and hops out.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sloppy strikes from Narvaez. Those never looked like landing.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Narvaez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Partlow as he avoids it easily.

Narvaez connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Narvaez lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Partlow has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Partlow and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Narvaez throws a right hand that misses
and Partlow counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Partlow on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Narvaez. Narvaez obviously looking to wear him down.
Narvaez fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Partlow connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Narvaez momentarily.

Partlow misses with an uppercut. Narvaez saw that one coming.
Partlow is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Narvaez rather than just go for the knockout.

and Partlow counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Partlow counters with a good low kick that Narvaez was not able to check.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

letting Partlow counter with a right hand.

and Narvaez counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Partlow is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Narvaez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Partlow has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Narvaez has managed to get both his arms back between Partlow's legs - danger averted.
Narvaez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Partlow swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Partlow tries to bum rush Narvaez with a series of wild strikes but Narvaez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Narvaez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Partlow tries to avoid it but Narvaez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Partlow to the ground. Partlow escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Narvaez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Narvaez takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Narvaez leaves Partlow with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Good leg kick by Narvaez there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Partlow has a takedown stuffed.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
A chopping leg kick lands by Narvaez.
Narvaez shoots in looking for a takedown but Partlow manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Narvaez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Well Narvaez has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
