The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McMylly moves into range and clinches up with Gatesy.
Gatesy throws a punch but it's blocked by McMylly.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. McMylly obliges.
Gatesy on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
McMylly will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Gatesy up against the cage.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, McMylly creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Gatesy manages to break the clinch.
McMylly moves away from the strike by Gatesy.
Gatesy tries to score a power double leg takedown but McMylly sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gatesy somewhat.

and McMylly counters with an inside leg kick.

and McMylly counters with a body kick that stops Gatesy in his tracks momentarily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McMylly lands with a short punch from the clinch.

McMylly misses with some punches.
Gatesy tries to circle away but McMylly has him pinned against the cage.
Gatesy scores with a shot to the side of McMylly's head.
McMylly is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
McMylly lands an elbow just above Gatesy 's eye.

It looks like Cam Gatesy has been cut.
McMylly with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Gatesy tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. McMylly just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cam Gatesy. That's going to take a lot out of him.

McMylly wants to control from the top but Gatesy keeps moving.
McMylly stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gatesy swivels though and keeps the full guard.

McMylly really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gatesy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gatesy is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but McMylly frees his head nicely. Oh but Gatesy has switched to an armbar! McMylly is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
