The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Copperpot has his takedown stuffed and Szymaniak counters with a nice double leg into side control. Copperpot won't be happy with that. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Szymaniak taking a break here but Copperpot is having none of it and regains half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Szymaniak trying to mount his opponent but Copperpot defends it. Copperpot is trying is best to control the position here.
We're going to have a standup here because Mirek Szymaniak wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Szymaniak scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Szymaniak is looking to advance position but Copperpot won't allow it. Copperpot slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Szymaniak seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Copperpot working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Szymaniak doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Copperpot is tightening it up a little... Szymaniak has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Szymaniak reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Szymaniak taps out! nice BJJ there by Copperpot!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Chester Copperpot!
