Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Armin Merkel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sigfredo Pineda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Merkel comes to the cage accompanied by War Is My Destiny. Pineda has chosen "Suffer" by Vision of Disorder as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Merkel can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pineda controls the pace.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Sigfredo Pineda wasn't active enough on the ground.

A looping hook to the body misses from Merkel. Pineda does a little dance to reset his feet.
Pineda takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Merkel is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Merkel scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Pineda doesn't seem bothered though.
Pineda takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Merkel is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Merkel lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

That has opened up Sigfredo Pineda's cut even more.
Pineda takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Pineda uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Merkel.

The cut above Sigfredo Pineda's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Pineda is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Armin Merkel is winning the standup battle so far.
Merkel bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Pineda's head backwards.

Sigfredo Pineda's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Merkel cracks Pineda with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Merkel has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Pineda to stand back up!

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Sigfredo Pineda's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
